FALL BALL LEAGUE - 2008

East Side has started 2 - 0 in the Fall Ball League. The 2008-2009 squad is young and full of promise.

Seton Hall adds Whiteside to wish list

Seton Hall has been aggressively recruiting Jarred Famous, a seven-footer who currently plays at Westchester Community College, for the past few months. Bobby Gonzalez & Co. have also been pursuing Patterson School (N.C.) prep star Arsalan Kazemi and local standout Dominic Cheek.

Add Hassan Whiteside to the list of 2009 prospects being sought by the Pirates.

The 6-11 big man from the Patterson School has drawn notice from a handful of high-major coaches over the past week. Whiteside spoke with coaches from Seton Hall and Mississippi State on Friday; the day before, assistants from several top programs noted of his talents while watching Patterson practice.

Whiteside showed himself to be a versatile big man, as capable of knocking down a three as he is of guarding a center in the post. One scout compared him to former Michigan big man Eric Riley.

Whiteside is from Gastonia, N.C., but says he spent time living in New Jersey. (EAST SIDE)

Real Scout Top 100 Profile Tariq Carey

What makes a camp a camp? Sleepers! Carey is a 6'1 guard who didn't arrive in camp until Saturday. But when he arrived, he arrived. In his first game Carey scored at least 18pts in a hurry and showed us why he made the treck from NJ.

Carey is headed to his freshman year at Newark Eastside the home of Randy Foye (NBA), if Carey continues to develop his jump shot, he could be the next "Dexter Strickland".
